नयी दिल्ली : देश कई सालों से जवाहर लाल नेहरू बनाम सरदार पटेल की गढी गयी राजनीति में उलझा हुआ है. एक धारा है जो दोनों में अनबन की बात कहते हुए पटेल को नेहरू की तुलना में अधिक महान साबित करना चाहती है, दूसरी धारा है जो नेहरू व पटेल दोनों नेताओं के समन्वय का उदाहरण देती है और दोनों को महान बताती है. इस उलझन के बीच विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने एक दावा किया है कि पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू सरदार वल्लभ भाई पटेल को अपने कैबिनेट में नहीं रखना चाहते थे.

उन्होंने एक किताब के हवाले से यह दावा किया और इसके लिए पक्ष में सिलसिलेवार ट्वीट किया. इसके बाद कांग्रेस के जयराम रमेश व शशि थरूर जैसे नेताओं ने ट्वीट के जरिए जयशंकर को जवाब दिया. जयशंकर ने उस चिट्ठी की काॅपी को ट्वीट किया जो वायसराय माउंटबेटन को नेहरू ने लिखी थी और उसमें संभावित मंत्रियों का जिक्र था, जिसमें सरदार पटेल का नाम शीर्ष पर था.

जयशंकर ने नारायणी बसु द्वारा वीपी मेनन के जीवन पर लिखी किताब वीपी मेनन का विमोचन किया. उन्होंने लिखा कि इतिहास लिखने के लिए ईमानदार होना होता है. उन्होंने अपने एक ट्वीट में मेनन के शब्दों को लिखा: जब सरदार का निधन हुआ तो उनकी स्मृतियों को मिटाने का बड़ा अभियान शुरू हुआ. मुझे यह पता था, क्योंकि मैंने देखा था और मैं उस समय खुद को पीड़ित महसूस करता था.

जयराम रमेश ने 14 अगस्त 1947 का पत्र ट्वीट करते हुए लिखा कि पटेल नेहरू के बाद कैबिनेट में नंबर दो थे. उन्होंने वीपी मेनन की जीवनी में किए गए दावे को झूठा ठहराया. उन्होंने लिखा कि मैं नेहरू द्वारा पटेल को कैबिनेट में शामिल नहीं किए जाने की झूठी खबरों के बीच में इस पत्र और कागजात साक्ष्य के रूप में पेश कर रहा हूं और यही सच है.

वहीं, इतिहासकार रामचंद्र गुहा ने एस जयशंकर पर कटाक्ष करते हुए लिखा प्रोफेसर श्रीनाथ राघवन इस दावे को गलत ठहरा चुके हैं. इस बारे में झूठा दावा पेश करना विदेश मंत्री का काम नहीं है, यह काम बीजेपी के आइटी सेल के लिए छोड़ देना चाहिए. इस पर जयशंकर ने जवाब दिया कि कुछ विदेश मंत्री किताबें भी पढते हैं और उन्हें कल रिलीज की गयी किताब पढने की सलाह दी.
